Jonas and Annika were married on 30th May in an intimate celebration in one of the most impressive settings for wedding photography I’ve seen -a ruined castle on an island accessible only by rowing boat!
When the weather forecast for this May came in, some couples would have backed out, but Jonas and Annika decided to go ahead with the planned portrait session in the middle of a deluge but with some great pictures to show for it. Even the outdoor ceremony went ahead, complete with umbrellas, lashing rain and a string quartet under the gazebo. Since both bride and groom are musicians, music splayed a prominent role throughout the day, with impromptu recitals, dedications and a whole wedding singing ‘Merry is the Month of May’ in the pouring rain.
Since many of Jonas and Annika’s guests had come from Germany, what finer way to finish off a Swedish wedding than with a selection of midsummer folk dances… and, of course, the sun even came out. Which it doesn’t even usually do at midsommar…
